Operation
Replacing the Cassette

Check that the cassette locking lever is in the OPEN position. Insert the printer cassette by
aligning the two guide pins (see the appropriate webbing diagram) and pressing the unit
home.

Check that the ribbon passes over the peel bar correctly.

Lock the unit shut by turning the locking lever to the CLOSED position.

When the cassette is back in position and the printer is set to READY, SmartDate X40
automatically drives the head to remove any creases and to calibrate the ribbon feed sensor.

If the message CALIBRATION FAILED is displayed, remove the cassette.
6
Check that the ribbon is threaded correctly and try again.
