Safety cables

Warning! When suspending the fixture
above ground level, secure it against
the failure of primary attachments with
a safety cable that is approved for the
total weight that it will secure.
Securing the Dual VDO Header with a safety
cable
To secure a Dual VDO Header with a safety cable:
1. Obtain a safety cable that is approved for the weight
that it will secure. Fasten the safety cable to the
Header's safety cable attachment point [D] and loop
the safety cable around the truss so that it will catch
the VDO Header if a primary attachment fails.
2. Remove as much slack as possible from the safety
cable by looping it more than once around the truss
(see illustration on right).
Securing fixtures with safety cables
To secure a column of fixtures with safety cables:
1. Obtain a safety cable that is approved for the weight
that it will secure. Fasten the safety cable to the
safety cable attachment point on the fixture that is
closest to the Dual VDO Header and loop the safety
cable around the truss so that it will catch the fixture if
a primary attachment fails. Remove as much slack as
possible from the safety cable by looping it more than
once around the truss.
2. Secure the next fixture by looping a safety cable through the safety cable of the fixture above it
(see illustration on right). Remove as much slack as possible from the safety cable by looping it
more than once around its anchoring point.
3. Continue installing safety cables as described above until all the fixtures in the column are
secured.
