3-12-1 Enabling and Disabling the Operation of the PT

For the following functions of the PT, operations can be enabled or disabled by
instructions from the host.
Opening a window (with PT status control bits)
Inputting numeric values and character strings (with PT status control bits or
interlock bits)
Switching the screen (with the PT status control bits)
Operating touch switches (with interlock bits)
Recipe object operations (with PT status control bits or interlock bits)
The procedure for enabling and disabling operation at the PT by instructions
from the host is described below.
Operation at the PT can be enabled or disabled from the host using the following
methods.
By operation at the PT status control area
By operation of interlock bits
S When window opening has been disabled with a PT status control bit, all kinds
of window opening operations at the PT, such as operations that use a touch
switch or screen property setting, are not possible. Note that window close op-
erations are still possible.
S When the input of numeric values and character strings has been disabled with
a PT status control bit, all kinds of numeric value and character string change
operations at the PT, such as numeric value input (numeric key type input field,
thumbwheel type input field), character string input, copying memory table en-
tries using a touch switch, and recipe data editing, are not possible. Note that
operations to change numeric values/character strings at the PT status control
area by an instruction from the host (memory table copying and screen switch-
ing by operation at the PT status control area, changing the contents of allo-
cated words, etc.) are still possible.
S When interlock bits are being used to control numeral inputs, character string
inputs, or recipe data editing, the input fields or recipe object can be enabled/
disabled independently. Regardless of the status of the interlock bits, it is al-
ways possible to use bits in the PT status control area to make changes from
the host such as copying memory table entries or changing the contents of allo-
cated words.
S When screen switching is disabled with the bit in the PT status control area, all
kinds of screen switching operations at the PT, such as screen switching using
a touch switch and by the alarm list/history function, are not possible. Note that
the display of the System Menu using the touch panel and screen switching by
an instruction from the host using the PT status control area are still possible.
S When the operation of touch switches is being controlled with interlock bits, the
touch switches can be enabled/disabled independently regardless of each
touch switch's function.
S It is possible to disable the input and change operation using the System Menu
and the display of the System Menu by setting in the System Installer mode.
