Know the Equipment
Read and understand the DANGER, WARNING,
CAUTION, and NOTICE safety labels and other
informational signs on the machine, the attachments,
and in the manufacturer's operator's manuals. Ask your
supervisor or dealer to explain any information you do
not understand. Failure to obey safety instructions could
result in death or serious injury.
Know the following about your equipment:
• Function, purpose, and use of all controls
• Correct operating speeds
• Braking and steering characteristics
• Slope and uneven terrain capabilities and proper
operation
• Turning radius and clearances
• How to quickly stop equipment in an emergency
Keep in mind that rain, snow, ice, loose gravel, soft
ground, slopes, and other site conditions can affect your
machine's operating capabilities. Make sure you are
thoroughly familiar with your machine's stability, braking,
traction, and other handling characteristics under any
conditions you are likely to encounter.
Check and Use All
Available Safety Devices
To protect you and others around you, your machine
may be equipped with the safety equipment listed
below. Additional equipment may be required or some
items may not apply, depending on attachments used,
job site conditions, or applicable job site rules. Check
that each required item is securely in place and in
operating condition:
• Seat belt
• Roll–over Protective Structure (ROPS)
• Operating and warning lights
• Safety signs
• Guards
• Mirrors
• First aid kit
• Fire extinguisher/fire suppression system

Prepare for Safe Operation

IMPORTANT: This manual covers safe practices for
industrial/agricultural mower equipment. If your machine
is equipped with other devices or special attachments,
read the manufacturer's operator's manual(s) and safety
manuals pertaining to that equipment before using it.
Make sure all the manufacturer's protective structures,
guards, shields, screens and panels are in good repair,
in place and securely fastened. Damaged, missing or
weakened safety components can create a hazardous
situation for you as the operator. Never remove or
modify any safety components including thrown object
shielding on a mower.
Know which devices are required for protection during
your specific operation and use them.
WARNING! Never remove or modify a ROPS
except when servicing the machine. Reinstall it
correctly before releasing the machine back into service.
Death or serious injury could result.
