In cassette tapes available on the market, even tapes of
the same position, there are slight differences in tape sen-
sitivity and frequency characteristics. To take full advan-
tage of a tapes characteristics, and thereby assure faithful
recording of a source, it is necessary to set the optimum
recording bias, recording level {sensitivity}, and equali-
zation. In most conventional tape decks, these settings
are adjusted and fixed using a standafrd tape as refer-
ence. This means that regular decks are not able to deal
with the slight differences of individual tapes.
With AUTO BLE system, bias, sensitivity, and equaliza-
tion are automatically adjusted by a microprocessor to
achieve the optimum recording characteristics for each
tape.
® Details concerning AUTO
BLE operation
Press the AUTO BLE button, and built-in oscillation cir-
cuitry

A
microprocessor takes this signal, and makes the appropri-
ate adjustments

the optimum
recording characteristics for each tape. After the settings
have been made, the tape is automatically rewound to
the beginning. When recording begins, the measurement
signal is compietely erased. This adjustment is only ef-
fective during recording.
®@ You can switch to any type of Dolby NR when using
AUTO BLE. And after adjustments have been made,
even it you change the type of Dolby NR, it has no
effect on AUTO
BLE operation.
@ To enable adjustments to be made, a measurement
signal is recorded onto the tape, erasing any music
or other material recorded at the point where record-
ing begins.
© During AUTO BLE operation, playback and fast for-
ward operations are not possible.
@
During recording, recording pause, and recording mute
operation, settings cannot be canceled even if you

BLE, the BLE setting must be performed again.

tape for recording into Deck Il. Close the cas-
sette tray.
®@ Check to see that the accidental erasure preven-
tion tabs are not broken off.

tion. AUTO BLE operates in the indicated direction.
