No other device can be connected to the power supply but the already connected media con-
verter. Connecting another device can lead to permanent damage.
Note
When connecting a single-mode fiber optic transceiver, it is recommended to use an attenuator
to avoid damage caused by excessive optical power.

Calculate the "typical distance" to a given fiber optic transceiver as follows: Link Budget (dB) >
Dispersion Loss (dB) + Total Link Loss (dB).
