Emergency unlocking of the ignition key
In the event of malfunctions in the electrical
system, it may happen that you cannot re-
move the ignition key.

If you are unable to remove t he ignit ion key,
for example because the vehicle battery is dis-
charged, proce ed as follows:
• Press the release button @ ,::)

pull the mechanical key @ out of the master
key.
• Lock the veh icle using the mechanical key

• Have the elect rical system inspected by an
authorized Audi dealership.

down until it latches audibly.
• Ins ert the adapter with the emergency key
forward into t he ignition switch . The engine
can now be started as usua l.
Electronic immobilizer
The immobilizer helps to prevent unauthor-
ized use of your vehicle.
Inside the key there is a compute r chip . This
chip a utomatica lly deactivates the electronic
immobiliz er when you insert the key in the ig-
nition lock. When you remove the key from
the ignition lock, the electronic immobilizer is
auto matically act ivated once again.
