Backlash Adjustment
1.
Remove disk and turn off power.
2.
Remove printer (see paragraph 5.2.2).
3.
Loosen idler gear locking screw and adjust eccentric screw so that the
backlash between the drive gear and idler gear is minimum (see figure
5-17).
NOTE
Moving gears closer together reduces backlash.
However, if the gears are too close the gear
train biuds.
Check each adjustment for binding
before continuing with procedures.
Turn gears
through 360 degrees while checking.
4.
Tighten gear nut while holding eccentric nut in place.
5.
Loosen the two motor mounting screws and the pivot screw on plate and
adjust the backlash between the idler gear and the platen gear (see
figure 5-17) .
6.
Tighten
the
two motor mounting screws
and
the
pivot
screw while
holding plate.
7.
Install printer.
8.
Perform backlash check again to determine the amount of backlash after
adjustment.
