3.1
System Power up
This section describes the proper sequence of events
when first powering up the FPT-DACT.
3.1. 1
Before Power Up
Before applying power to the FPT-DACT, verify:
•
All wiring connections are made according to
Section 2.2 Connecting the FPT-DACT on page 12).
•
All connectors are firmly seated onto their
appropriate
headers. Refer to Section 2.2 Connecting
the
FPT-DACT).
•
Input power requirements comply with the power
specifications in Table 1 on page 5. The power
supplied to the FPT-DACT from the FACP is not
shorted and meets the necessary power requirements
for the FPT-DACT.
•
All telephone line connections are made according
to Figure 13 on page 15.
•
Both RJ31X male connectors are firmly seated in the
RJ31X female connectors located on the FPT-DACT
board.
•
All input points are properly terminated with the
supplied 2.2 kΩ EOL resistors for supervised
operation.
•
The trouble relay connections are made according to
Figures 11 and 12 on pages 14 and 15.
3. 1 .2
After Power Up
After power is applied to the FPT-DACT, verify the
following conditions occur:
•
All LEDs light briefly and the trouble relay toggles.
•
The System Trouble LED lights.
•
The Heartbeat LED flashes indicating the FPT-
DACT is functional.
3.2
System Quick Start
The FPT-DACT starts in a trouble condition until the
following steps are taken:
1.
Connect the FMR-DACT-KEYPAD. Refer to
Connecting the Keypad to the FPT-DACT in Section
2.2.3 Telephone Connections on page 16.
2. Program the FPT-DACT using the FMR-DACT-
KEYPAD. Refer to Section 5.1 Using the Keypad on
page 28.
3. Configure the five input points. Refer to
1: CONFIGURE in Section 5.0 Programming
beginning on page 28.
4. Assign the FPT-DACT account numbers. Refer to
1: ACCOUNT NUMS in Section 5.0 Programming.

5. Assign the FPT-DACT telephone numbers. Refer to
2: PHONE NUMS in Section 5.0 Programming.
When you complete Steps 1 through 5, refer to
Section 5.0 Programming
to complete the programming
sequence.
If the FPT-DACT is correctly programmed
and input wiring is properly connected and
supervised, only the Heartbeat LED flashes.
This indicates normal system operation.
Verify the correct communications by
performing a Manual Communications Test.
Refer to 1: TEST COMM in Section 5.5.4,
3-TEST on page 44 for testing instructions.
Test according to NFPA 72 Chapter
10.4.1.2 (2002) following any modifications,
repairs, upgrades, or adjustments to the
system.
Refer to Appendix A on page 45 for
information on error messages or messages
indicating abnormal operating conditions.
