4. Next, using the measurements previously gath-
ered and allowing sufficient clearance around the
ends of the awning, mark with a pencil the loca-
tions of the wall bracket center lines on the wall.
(FIG. 6) This will provide a starting point from
which to identify the nearest wall stud on each
side of the bracket. It will be on these two studs
that the adapter plate with wall bracket will be at-
tached.

5. Using a stud finder, mark the centers of the near-
est stud on each side of the proposed wall brack-
et location.
It is critical to find the centers of the studs.
Failure to install the lag bolts in the struc-
tural studs can result in the awning separat-
ing from the wall, resulting in personal injury
and/or damage to property.
6. Attach the wall bracket to the adapter plate using
the carriage bolts, nuts, and washers shown in
figure 6. Leave the nuts slightly loose to allow for
readjustment of the wall bracket if required later.

7. Using the adapter bracket as a template place the
adapter against the wall, checking to make sure
that the adapter can be mounted to the wall and
still maintain proper position of the wall bracket.
The adapter plate has slots to allow for some ad-
justment of the plate as well as the wall bracket.

Important: (For Aluminum, Vinyl, Hardboard
Or Lap Siding)
to mount the adapter plate, it will be necessary to cut
the siding in the areas that the adapter plates will be
mounted. Using the adapter plate as a template and
holding it in the correct location, mark the outline of the
adapter plate. Next, cut the siding with a sharp utility
knife, exposing the flat mounting surface (either the
studs or the sheathing on top of the studs). Re-mark
the stud centers (if sheathing is present).
8. After confirming the adapter plate can be properly
installed on the centers of the studs to result in
the proper position of the wall bracket, drill pilot
holes for each lag screw using a 1/4" wood bit.
Secure the adapter plate to the wall using the 3/8"
X 4" fasteners shown in the illustration below.
