NOTE:
Although there are two separate pinch roller ass'ys
which are on the left hand side and right hand side
of the head ass'y, only the right hand side pinch
roller figures are illustrated. All the descriptions
in this section, however, apply to both pinch
rollers.
1. Separate the tape transport chassis from the main chassis.
For detailed procedure refer to paragraph 4-2 on page
8.

. Switch on POWER.
3. Place the deck in the play mode with no tape loaded. In
doing so refer to 5-2, steps 2 to 3.
. Adjust the set screw located on the lower bent-portion
of the pinch roller lever A for the pinch roller that
requires adjustment
due to replacement
of the pinch
roller or due to pinch roller pressure being incorrect.
. Turn the adjustment screw until the pinch roller touches
the capstan shaft and then turn screw in the same direc-
tion about two turns (revolutions) for initial coarse place-
ment adjustment.
. After doing so, tighten the locking nut.
. After completing the above, operate the deck in the pause
mode with no tape installed.
NOTE:
When in the pause mode without cassette tape
it is absolutely necessary to close the cassette
holder first before selecting the pause mode to
prevent physical damage to the head.
. Make certain that there is a 0.5 mm
to 1 mm
clearance
between the pinch roller and capstan shaft.
