Two robot gate switch channels are provided on the PCSS unit for connection to the press
brake as shown in
connected to both of these inputs are opened, an emergency stop condition is invoked by the
PCSS, preventing any further operation of the press brake but up movement of the press is still
allowed. This functionality is only applicable if the operating mode on the PCSS is configured
for robot mode.
Note:
To adhere to EN12622 Category 4 Safety requirements the operation of the gate
switches must be checked on a regular basis to identify any failures in the system.

Fault conditions for the state of both inputs are also monitored to always ensure they are in the
same state. If either of these inputs is in an opposite state or condition to the other input then a
fault condition will be flagged and an emergency stop condition of the press brake will occur as
shown in
Table
4.2.1.7 Option Selection
To select emergency stop option 6 during the PCSS configuration, set the initial value for the
emergency stop option selection variable to 6. This will ensure that this option will be initialised
and all required inputs and outputs are activated when the PCSS software is started.

In this application, normally open (NO) and normally closed (NC) contacts from each of the
door switches are monitored with safety inputs on the PCSS unit. All doors should be closed
during normal operation.
