The performance of Drive Away Assist is limited
on inclines.
Drive Away Assist is not available if a transport
device, e.g. a trailer or bicycle rack is attached to
the trailer hitch, and the electrical connection is
correctly established.

▌Function of Cross Traffic Alert
%
The Cross Traffic Alert function is only availa-
ble for vehicles with Blind Spot Assist.
The Cross Traffic Alert function can warn drivers
of any crossing traffic when reversing and
manoeuvring out of a parking space. The radar
sensors in the bumper also monitor the area adja-
cent to the vehicle. If a critical situation is detec-
ted, the L symbol appears on the central dis-
play and the vehicle can be braked automatically.
If the radar sensors are obstructed by vehicles or
other objects, detection is not possible.
The Cross Traffic Alert function can be switched
on or off in the
Manoeuvring assistance
depending on the respective country
(
page 338).

following conditions:

▌Function of close-range braking
Close-range braking can prevent collisions with
pedestrians when the vehicle is reversing at slow
speeds. If the reversing camera detects a person

in the vehicle's path, the vehicle can be braked to
a standstill.
Close-range braking can intervene under the fol-
lowing conditions:
The vehicle is reversing at a speed slower than

10 km/h.
The camera image is shown in the central dis-
