Warning

KINGDOM)
This appliance is supplied with a fitted
three pin mains plug.
A3 amp fuse is fitted in the plug.
Should the fuse need to be replaced,
use a 3 amp fuse approved by ASTA
or BSI to BS 1362. When replacing the
fuse, you must ensure that any
removable fuse covers are correctly
refitted.
If you should lose the fuse cover,
please contact your nearest AIWA
dealer.
DO NOT CUT OFF THE PLUG
FROM THIS APPLIANCE
If the plug fitted is not suitable for the
power points in your home, or the
cable is too short to reach a power
point, obtain an appropriate safety
approved extension lead or adaptor. If
in any doubt please consult a qualified
electrician.
If the plug is cut off, remove the fuse
and dispose of the plug immediately.
THERE IS A DANGER OF SEVERE
ELECTRICAL SHOCK IF THE CUT
OFF PLUG IS INSERTED INTO A NY
13 AMP SOCKET.
If a new plug is to be fitted please
ensure it contains a 3 amp fuse,
otherwise the circuit should be
protected by a 5 amp fuse at the
distribution board.
IMPORTANT
The wires in the mains lead are
coloured in accordance with the
following code:
BLUE
NEUTRAL
BROWN
LIVE
As the colours of the wires in the
mains lead of this appliance may not
correspond with the colour markings
identifying the terminals in your plug,
proceed as follows:
The wire which is coloured BLUE must
be connected to the terminal which is
marked by the letter N or coloured
BLACK.
The wire which is coloured BROWN
must be connected to the terminal
which is marked by the letter L or
coloured RED.
DO NOT connect either the BLUE or
BROWN wire of the mains lead to the
earth terminal (marked with the letter
E or by the earth symbol + or
coloured GREEN or GREEN/
YELLOW) of a three pin plug.
Warning
To reduce the risk of fire or electric
shock, do not expose this appliance
to rain or moisture.
Precautions
Important
* Use only [VAHS|-marked cassettes with
this unit.
¢ This unit is designed to receive and
record using the PAL colour system,
and playback using the PAL and
NTSC colour system.
e Audio/video material may consist of
copyrighted work which must not be
recorded without the authorization of
the owner of the copyright. Please
refer to the relevant laws in your
country.
Installing
¢ The unit should be situated with
adequate space around it so that
proper heat ventilation is assured.
Allow 10 cm clearance from the rear
and the top of the unit, and 5 cm
from the each side.
- Do not place the unit on a bed, rug,
or similar surface that may block
the ventilation openings.
- Do not install the unit in a
bookcase, cabinet, or airtight rack
where ventilation may be impeded.
¢ Keep the unit away from radiators
and other heat sources.
¢ Avoid using the unit near strong
magnetic fields.
¢ Use the unit in the horizontal position
only.
¢ Install the unit at least one meter
away from radios and receivers.
Otherwise, noise may occur during
radio reception.
* Do not place heavy objects on the
unit.
Cautions
¢ Do not open the cabinet of the unit.
¢ Do not push any kind of object into
the unit through the cabinet openings
as they could touch current carrying
parts, which may result in short-
circuit, fire, electric shock, or damage
to the unit.
¢ Do not spill liquid of any kind on this
unit. If any liquid is spilled over the
unit, immediately disconnect the unit
from the mains, and consult a
qualified service engineer.
* Do not put your hand into the tape
compartment.
¢ When the system is not used for an
extended period of time, disconnect
the AC cord. When the cord is
plugged in, a small amount of current
continues to flow to the system, even
when the power is turned off.
* When there is lightning, immediately
disconnect the unit from the mains
and never touch the aerial wire.
Note on moisture
condensation
Moisture may condense inside the unit
and cause damage to the unit and
tape when the unit is moved from a
cold to a warm place, after heating a
cold room, or under conditions of high
humidity. If any of above conditions is
applied, place the unit in a well-
ventilated area and wait for about two
hours before operating the unit, until
the unit is warmed to room
temperature and the moisture
evaporates completely.
Maintenance
Professional periodic maintenance is
required to keep the optimum
performance of the unit. Maintenance
and adjusiments to internal
components should not be done by
the user. Please consult your dealer if
you have any trouble with the unit.
Cleaning the unit
Wipe the cabinet clean using a damp
soft cloth with diluted detergent. Never
use thinner or benzine since they will
damage the cabinet surface.
Cleaning the video heads
Although the unit cleans the video
heads automatically, dirt may be
accumulated after a long period of
use. If the playback picture is blurred
or noisy while the TV programmes are
received clearly, the video heads may
be dirty. In this case, clean the video
heads using a commercially available
video heads cleaning tape.
ATTENTION
* Please ensure that you keep
a record of the Security "Fi IN"
code in a safe place, in case
you forget it.
* If your Video Recorder needs
to be serviced, please ensure
that the Security feature is
turned OFF, otherwise the
repairer will be unable to
service the unit.
