When installation is to begin, carefully cut the straps
which hold the unit on the skid. Lift the unit straight
up off the skid. Examine packing materials to be

i n t e r n a l w i r i n g . It is r e a d y f o r i m m e d i a t e
c o n n e c t i o n . A w i r i n g d i a g r a m is p r o v i d e d in
t h i s m a n u a l a n d o n t h e i n s i d e o f t h e c o n t r o l
h o u s i n g s e r v i c e p a n e l .
The completed unit has b e e n operated at the
factory to test all controls and heater elements.
4. S e t t h e k e t t l e in p l a c e a n d l e v e l it. T h e b a s e
m u s t b e s e c u r e l y f a s t e n e d t o a t a b l e o r
w o r k s u r f a c e . I n s t a l l a t i o n u n d e r a v e n t i l a t i o n
h o o d is r e c o m m e n d e d .
2. Provide electrical power as specified on the
electrical information piate attached to the
equipment. O b s e r v e local codes and/or The
National Electrical C o d e in accordance with
A N S I / N F P A 7 0 - ( c u r r e n t edition).
3. B r i n g i n g the electrical s e r v i c e t h r o u g h
the e n t r a n c e at t h e r e a r o f the s u p p o r t
housing, m a k i n g a w a t e r t i g h t c o n n e c t i o n
with t h e i n c o m i n g lines. ( A B X
c o n n e c t i o n is n o t r e c o m m e n d e d . )
4. Apply a small bead of silicone caulk around
the perimeter of the kettle base.
5. C o n f i r m that t h e j a c k e t w a t e r l e v e l is
b e t w e e n t h e m a r k s o n t h e g a u g e g l a s s . If
t h e level is low, f o l l o w t h e i n s t r u c t i o n s u n d e r
?Jacket Filling a n d W a t e r T r e a t m e n t ? in t h e
? M a i n t e n a n c e ? s e c t i o n o f t h i s m a n u a l .
6. The open end of the elbow on the outlet o f
the safety valve must be directed downward.
If it is not, turn the elbow to the correct
position.
7. Any mechanical or electrical change m u s t be
approved by the Groen Food Service
Engineering Department.
