Using this book
All numbers in bold type 1, 2, 3, etc. refer to the main
illustrations on the inside front cover.
This video recorder incorporates a display which shows
various information. Examples of display readings are used
throughout this text. However, the actual readings will vary
according to the situation at any particular time.

Remember: Only use cassettes of a well-known brand which
carry the VHS-logo.

simple-to-use home video recorders you can buy.
Features
e@ Video Programm System (VPS)
This video recorder has been equipped with a VPS decoder. VPS
(Video Program System) is the system of the future. It controls.
the video recorder so that timed recordings will be made at the
exact moment the TV programme starts, even if the start time
(and therefore also the stop time) has been delayed or changed.
(See Section 5 for detailed information.)
@ On Screen Display (OSD)

This video recorder has also been equipped with the so called
|
'On Screen Display' system. By displaying on the TV screen all
kinds of useful information, this interactive system eases the
installation and operation of your video recorder.
The system informs you about the tape transport modes of the
video recorder, or it tells you what has to:be done to programa
-
timed recording.
The On Screen Display system shows:

The current time; Black and white test pattelh: Searching for and
storing TV stations; Tuner only mode; Tape transport modes;
Eject and go-to-zero; Tape counter position; Programming a
timed recording.
Each time the video recorder is switched on, the OSD system is
operative. If OSD is not required, it can be switched off by ©
pressing the OSD © button on remote control unit AV5623.
Important
- The OSD information is only visible on the TV screen when the -
TV set has been tuned to the video recorder and when the
. -
pre-selector for the video recorder has been ealacied on the TV
set (see Section 2).
- Some OSD information, e.g. for tape transport modes, is only |
displayed for a few seconds after the mode has-been selected.'
Press button @ once more if:you want to have the OSD
information again.
- Other OSD information, e.g. during programming a timed
recording, is displayed until the whole step is completed.
@ General
- Many buttons (for example Play, Wind, Rewind, Up + or
Down —) will automatically switch on the video recorder; it is not
necessary to press On/Standby | () button 24 first.
- It is possible to use your video recorder as a TV tuner if you
|

leave your TV tuned to the video recorder channel. Up to 48 TV
stations can be selected using the Up.+ /Down
— buttons 2 and
3 or using the digit buttons (0-9) on the remote control unit.
If you have a TV set without a cable TV tuner, you can receive
cable WV transmissions via your video recorder.
