Inspect the electrolyte level at least once a
week. lf it is low, add enough distilled water
to keep between upper level and lower level
Do not overfill.
The spocific <;ravity of the electrolyte should
be examined with a hydrometer, particular-
ly during cold wcather. lf the reading is low,
have the battery recharged.
For the best service from your vehicles bat-
tery, follow these tips
1. Keep the battery securely mounted.
2. Keep the battery top clean and dry.
3. Keep the terminals and connections
clean and tight and the terminals coated
with petroleum jelly or terminal grease.
4. Rinse off any spilled.electrolyte
immedi-
ately with a solution of water and baking
soda.
5 lf the vehicle is not being used for an ex-
tended time, disconnect the cables and
charge the battery every six weeks.
WARN'NG!
o Keep lighted cigarettes, flames and
sparks away from the battery, because
hydrogen, a highly combustible gas, is
always present in battery cells
r Do not get electrolyte, which is SULFUR-
lC ACID, in your eyes, on your skin or
clothes, or on any painted surfaces.
