sound, or the G.711 protocol sound encoder. Use the Opus encoder if you are using ACC software Release
6.10 or later (or a third-party video management system that supports the Opus protocol). Otherwise use the
widely supported G.711 protocol.
Echo cancellation and noise reduction are built into the Video Intercom. Echo cancellation removes the
speaker output signal from the microphone signal, which prevents the operator at the other end from hearing
an echo of their own voice. Noise reduction removes background noise from the microphone signal, and you
can set the sensitivity to background noise. You can also set the speaker volume and the microphone output
levels.
 1. In the Audio Settings section:
 a. In the Encoding field, specify the audio encoder to use:

Opus: Default high quality audio codec.
l

G.711: Supported on various platforms.
l
 b. Clear the Echo Cancellation & Processing check box to disable all audio processing, including
echo cancellation, noise reduction, and auto gain control. This is enabled by default.
 c. In the Noise Reduction field specify the noise reduction strength to apply to reduce
background noise.
The default level of 7 is suitable for a moderately noisy environment, while a value in the range 1
to 3 is suitable for quiet indoor environments with little background noise.
In a noisy environment, strange-sounding background noise usually indicates that the Noise
Reduction setting is too low. In this case, increase the value of this setting. Audio quality may
be affected at settings higher than the default.
When set to Off, noise reduction is disabled completely.
 2. In the Device Speaker section, use the Volume slider to adjust the volume on the speaker (from 0 to
100).
 3. In the Device Microphone section:
 a. Use the Output Level slider to adjust the output of the microphone. The default level is 0 dB,
and you can reduce the output level by as much as 40 dB . This volume level is applied after
auto gain control and other processing. Lower the output level to match the volume from the
Video Intercom to other devices.
 b. Check Auto Gain Control to maintain the microphone output level to be as constant as
possible. The microphone signal is increased when someone is talking quietly, and decreased
when someone is talking loudly into the microphone. This keeps the resulting volume level
constant for the operator.
 c. There is a Microphone Muting drop-down menu for the Video Intercom that regulates the
microphone's behavior in the ACC Client. For other cameras this option is not available.
Use the Microphone Muting drop-down menu to set the microphone's behavior. The default
setting is Never Mute.
