4.4 Spare parts and Pre-filtration
The machine requires activated carbon pre-filtration, which is not an optional, use only materials
supplied or approved by BRITA. Not installing pre-filtration or use of unapproved components will
cancel the warranty.
Approved pre-filtration is the PROGUARD Gastronomy 200 pre-filter cartridge with carbon block
filtration and 5µm particle retention.
For maintenance, use only spare parts supplied or approved by the manufacturer.
5 Long Term System Shutdowns
BRITA recommends not to decommission PROGUARD Gastronomy 200 components for long periods.
After installation, the machine must be powered on for hygiene and performance reasons (flushing)
and for a correct management of the exhausted filter.
In case of extended periods of non-use (>10 days), turn off the water supply to the unit, remove and
empty the pre-filter cartridge and leave the membranes in the housing.
When restarting the unit, the pre-filter cartridge is to be reinstalled and flushed per instructions with
minimum 30 liters. Consider the limited life-time of ONE year maximum after first installation.
The entire PROGUARD Gastronomy system including the membranes has to be flushed thoroughly as
well for minimum 10 minutes (see chapter 4.2: Installation and Putting The System Into Operation). In
the first liters of the flushed filtrate, an influence on taste and odor might be recognized. Flush minimum
as long as this smell is not recognizable anymore.
If functional losses in the form of reduced performance or operational problems are found after
restarting, new membrane cartridges must be installed after long term shutdowns.

6 Troubleshooting

The following table lists possible errors, their likely root causes and the recommended measures to fix
the respective problem. The problem solving measures may only be carried out by a service technician.
#
Errors
1
No water
2
No reduction of
conductivity of filtrate
3
Issue with oven or
dishwasher (corrosion,
limescale deposits,
gypsum deposits)
4
No production of filtrate
5
Electric pump acts
constantly in
stop & go mode
6
Leakage
7
Pump is not rotating after a
longer time of stagnation
Root cause
Water supply turned off
Shut-off valve turned off
Emergency bypass is activated
Insufficient line pressure
Capacity of membranes might be exhausted
Water consumption outside of product
specification (too low, too high)
Membrane clogged
Electric pump defective
Each smallest water demand is produced
immediately.
Leakage at junction
Pump vane stuck after a long not intended
stagnation
Measures service technician
Ensure water supply
Open shutoff valve
Shut off the emergency bypass switch on the
backside of the system.
Check the line pressure it should be higher
between 1 bar and 6 bar.
Check the reduction of conductivity in the
filtrate, the last replacement date and replace
the membranes accordingly.
Make sure that the usual water consumption
of the oven / dishwasher machine meets the
specifications of PROGUARD Gastronomy 200
Replace the 2 PROGUARD Gastronomy
membrane cartridges
Replace the pump
Install a buffer tank out of the accessory
portfolio to cover small demands and sum up
filtrate productions to bigger amounts.
Fix the leak (replace the affected hoses
and fittings)
Pump has a screw on top to rotate and loosen
the pump vane manually. Housing cover must be
opened, screw accessible from top view on motor.
