Maintenance and Service
Information on driving batteries
Pay attention to the information on driv-
ing batteries, refer to the Operating
Manual 88-60-2556.
When working on the electric
system, always switch the ve-
hicle off and disconnect the
battery plug!
Only batteries approved by
Hako may be installed!
Batteries may only be handled
and changed by properly
skilled maintenance person-
nel.
After finishing work on the bat-
teries, wash your hands thor-
oughly!
5.5.1 Total discharge signal trans-
ducer (TSG)
The vehicle is equipped with a total dis-
charge signal transducer for protection
against total discharge of the batteries.
The total discharge signal transducer is
set up for batteries approved by Hako.

5.5.2 Charging batteries

During operation, the charge control in-
dicator (Fig. 24/1) indicates the charge
status of the batteries (Fig. 24/3). When
the red LED lights up, the batteries
must be charged immediately.
Open the seat cover during the
charging process.
1. Park the vehicle on a level area of
floor.
2. Switch the vehicle off and apply the
parking brake.
3. Open the side door and pivot up the
seat console (refer to Section 5.4.1).
4. Disconnect the battery plug (Fig. 24/
2) from the device connector and
connect it to the connector on the
charger.
5. Switch on the charger and monitor
the charge status according to the
charge control indicator.
Never leave batteries in a
discharged state, always re-
charge them straight away!

5.5.3 Disassembling the batteries

1. Park the vehicle on a level area of
floor.
2. Switch the vehicle off and apply the
parking brake.
3. Open the side door and pivot up the
seat console (refer to Section 5.4.1).
4. Disconnect the battery plug (Fig. 24/
2) from the device connector. If nec-
essary, disconnect the water refilling
system (Fig. 24/4) .
Only use approved lifting gear.
Lifting hooks must not cause
damage to cells, connectors or
connection cables.
Risk of injury!
5. Remove the batteries from the vehi-
cle using appropriate lifting gear.
