Selective call: You can communicate with the
selected recipient, but cannot send a message. The
receiving party receives the information of the
sender of the message only.
You can make a Status call or Selective call from
Menu mode and Message List mode. It is
impossible to make a selective call in Status List
mode since the mode is for Status call only.

3.3.2.2. Sending a message from each mode

You can send a message from Menu mode, Status
List mode, and Message List mode. Below is the
outline of how to transmit a message.
Menu mode: Send a message by selecting a
message and a recipient within the configured list in
Menu mode. It is possible to send a message to
someone who has not previously sent you a
message. This mode allows you to make a selection
from Status call and Selective call.
3.3.2.3.}
Status List mode: This mode is for Status Call
only. Register the messages within the FPU that you
use often to make status calls easily. Although you
can send a message by selecting from any message
and any recipient, you cannot select Selective call.

Message List mode: This mode allows you to view
received messages as a list.
This list allows you to select the message and
respond to the sender of the message. Although you
do not need to select the recipient, you cannot send
a message to a recipient who is not stored in the
KDS-100. This mode allows you to make a selection
from Status call and Selective call.
3.3.2.5.}
Following are explanations of the operation of each
mode and the message transmission.

3.3.2.3. Menu mode

In Menu Mode, you can select a message and
receiving party, then send the message. Therefore
you can send a message to a recipient configured
using the KPG-71D. At the same time, you can
send a message by selecting Status Call and
SelCall.
Note: Depending on the settings of "Screen Lockout" in the
KPG-71D, you occasionaly cannot select Menu Mode

Press [STATUS] to enter the Status call display or
[SELCALL] to enter the Selective call display.
Return to the Menu mode display any time by
pressing MENU when operating the Menu mode.
Note:
You may not be able to send a Status call from the Menu
mode due to the KPG-71D settings.

[STATUS] will not appear.
The items that relates to GPS appears above the function
key [3] when the "GPS Function" and "GPS Key" are ON.

[GPS OK] appears when the GPS device is
available or [GPS NG] appears when the GPS device is
not available.

Making a Status call in Menu mode

You can send a message by selecting the status
message and the recipient in Menu mode.

The following display appears when selecting
[STATUS] in Menu mode.
The recipient and the selected ID appear on the top
line of the display. The currently selected status
message is highlighted.
The following lines are status messages that you can
send.
Select a status message by moving the cursor up or
down, to highlight your desired status.
Use the ∧ ∧ ∧ ∧ and ∨ ∨ ∨ ∨ keys and function keys [1] – [4] on
this screen.

status Message List. You can also use ∨ ∨ ∨ ∨ to scroll
down the list.
