3. KDS-100 Operation
∧ ∧ ∧ ∧ and ∨ ∨ ∨ ∨ keys
Press to scroll the display. When the Message List
is displayed, use these keys to select the list.
You can find detailed operational information at each
mode description.
3.2.4. Switching the KDS-100 power
OFF
Switch the attached transceiver's power OFF to turn
OFF the KDS-100. You do not need to save the data
when you turn off the KDS-100.

3.3. Sending/ Receiving a message

3.3.1. Receiving a message

The KDS-100 allows you to view received messages
from other terminals.

3.3.1.1. Message receipt display

When a new message is received, the terminal will
emit a beeping sound and the LED will flash
orange. You can disable these functions using the
FPU.

message receipt displays available in the KPG-71D
configuration.
The current display switches into the Message
receipt display or the New message receipt icon
appears in the right corner of the display.
4.2.3.3.}
This display appears when you configure the
received message to appear automatically. This
display shows the time the message was sent, the
sender of the message, the message number, and
the first few lines of the message.

3.3.1.2. Operations at message receipt

You can perform two operations on this display
{Refer to 5}. Press MENU to return to the previous
display or press [OK] to read the entire message.
The following display is a Message List display.
This display allows you to view the entire message.
When reading the messages, depending on its

MENU to enter Menu mode or SEL to enter
Message List mode.

Note: You can respond and directly make a Status call from
this display by configuring "Quick Status Response Keys" in the
KPG-71D. When you directly respond to the message, press
the function key that you assigned the Status call in the
KPG-71D.

3.3.2. Send a message

The KDS-100 allows you to send the message to other
terminals or TK-x80 series transceivers.

3.3.2.1. Status call and Sel. call

There are two types of transmission methods:
Status calls and Selective calls.
Status call: You can send pre-registered messages
to selected recipients. The receiving party's terminal
displays the sender of the message, the time the
message is received, and the message number.
Note: TK-x80 series transceivers do not have the function
to display the time.
