OPERATIONS 2 (Applications)
Normal
stereo
playback
is based
on three-dimensional
sound
from the front (speakers) direction only. In fact, however, when
listening to an actual live concert at a concert hall or theater,
sound is heard not only from the front, but it envelops the body
from all sides, reverberating off the high ceiling and wide wall
area,
Such
sound
qualities
form
elements
of the sense
of
"presence" and "spatial breadth" felt at such live concerts. The
surround
system
is a means
of reproducing
this
sense
of
presence and breadth.
