Heating and Scraping
Begin removing the paint with the arm in an
outstretched position and work your way
inward toward the post.
Turn the heater toward the working surface.
Wait until the layer of paint has been completely
softened – it will steam and bubble.
Heating times depend on the type of surface and the
climatic conditions, normally between 40 – 90 seconds.
For indoor work, the time may be shorter.
When the layer of paint has been heated, the heater
is moved to the next area and the softened paint is
scraped off while the next area is being heated.
If the heat is directed at an angle to the surface, and
moved in short distances, maintaining heat at the
same time as you scrape, gives a continually
effective use of your Speedheater.
Use scrapers with a larger blade intended for use with
IR paint removal technology and softened paint.
SHS special scrapers are recommended.
When scraping more complicated surfaces and profiles that take time, it may be advantageous to use short sideways
movements and/or increase the distance of the heater to maintain the heat.
When removing plastic paint and other very dry paints, it may be possible to speed up the heating process by
applying the Speedheater Accelerator. The liquid is sprayed or brushed on with a brush at least 2 hours prior to removing the paint.
Switching the tool off
Make sure that both of the switches on the device are
Ensure that the heater is not placed anywhere where it could affect surrounding materials before it has cooled.
Never leave a hot device out of sight.
