Mounting and connections
Redundant Gateways follow similar mounting and connection practices as a standalone
Gateway. Refer to
addition to the standard practices, apply the the following considerations when installing
redundant Gateways.
Mounting
Mount the Emerson 1410S Gateway in a location allowing convenient access to the process
control network while providing good coverage for the wireless field network.
Mount the two Emerson 781S Smart Antennas at the same height and ensure they are
spaced between 3–9 ft. (1–3 m) horizontally. This spacing ensures they provide identical
coverage for the wireless field network and to help eliminate a coverage gap in the event
of a switch over.
Ethernet
An Ethernet connection to the host system will support Modbus
Configurator, and HART-IP
Ethernet port on Gateway A directly to the secondary Ethernet port on Gateway B. Then
connect the primary Ethernet ports for both Gateways to a process control network using
separate/redundant network switches. See
