5. Check the oil level: the level should be between the 2 lines on the sight-glass (SG). Add oil
via the filler plug (FC) if necessary. See Oil specifications for details about the oil to be used.
6. Check that the electrical connections correspond to the local codes. The installation must be
earthed and protected by fuses in all phases. An isolating switch must be provided.
7. Check the connections at the primary side of transformer (T1). See the Electrical Diagram in
Electrical connections.
On air-cooled compressors, check the settings of the cooling fan circuit breaker (Q15) and
overload relay (F21).
8. Close all manual drain valves of the condensate traps.
Switch on the voltage. Start the compressor and stop it immediately. Check for correct direction
of rotation while the compressor drive motor is coasting to a stop. Arrow (1) on the gear casing
indicates the correct rotation direction. If the rotation direction is wrong, contact Quincy.
On air-cooled compressors (QOFT), check also the rotation direction of the fan motor (FN). The
cooling air must be blown through the outlet grating on the roof. If the rotation direction is wrong,
switch off the voltage and reverse two connections at the terminals of circuit breaker (Q15, see
the Electrical diagram in Electrical connections).
On all compressors:
Run the compressor for a few minutes and check that it operates normally.
Stop the compressor. If necessary, top up the gear casing with oil between the 2 lines on the
sight-glass (SG).
