Tool Preparation
(1) Tool shank: NT No. 50 taper for milling machines
(2) Tool grip: Conforms to MAS (403-1982) BT50.
The dimension from the trapezoidal groove center to the taper datum diameter (φ69.85 (2.75
in.)) position shall be 23.2 ± 0.1 mm (0.913 ± 0.004 in.). Refer to Section 3 "Tool Shank Dimen-
sions."
(3) Pull-stud: Use MAS (403-1982) type 2.
The dimension from the pull-stud φ23 (0.91 in.) position to the taper datum diameter (φ69.85
(2.75 in.)) position shall be 136.8
driven into the tool. Refer to Section 3 "Tool Shank, Pull-stud Dimensions." (If a tool having a
wrong dimension is used, the NC may detect the error "no tool in spindle" or "incomplete clamp-
ing," disabling spindle rotation.)
(4) Max tool length: 500 mm (19.69 in.) from the taper datum diameter (φ69.85 (2.75 in.)) position
to the tool edge.
(5) Max tool diameter stored in the magazine with adjacent pots occupied with tools: 170 mm (6.69
in.)
(6) Max tool diameter stored in the magazine with adjacent pots empty: 300 mm (11.81 in.)
Note: Diameter 50 mm (1.97 in.) from the tool end in max length is φ250 (9.84 in.).
(7) Max tool weight including the shank: 30 kg (66 lb) (Ave: 20 kg (44 lb))
(8) Max tool weight moment: The center of gravity shall be located within 205 mm (8.07 in.) from
the datum diameter (φ69.85 (2.75 in.)) position. (60 N-m (44 lbf-ft))
