Removing And Installing Nuts For Drive Shaft - Skoda Fabia III 2015 Workshop Manual

– Screw the steering joint to the track control arm with new nuts
-arrows-.
Use new nuts!
Make sure the boot is neither damaged nor twisted.
– Installing and tightening the wheel.
– Tighten twelve-point nut for drive shaft.
Note
At the same time the vehicle must not be standing on its wheels,
otherwise the wheel bearing will be damaged.
– Filling gearbox oil⇒ Rep. gr. 34 ; Gearbox oil; draining and
filling gearbox oil .

♦ Use new nuts.
6.3 Removing and installing nuts for drive
shaft
Note
If the fixing nut of the drive shaft is loose on the wheel side,
♦
the wheel bearings must not be loaded.
If the wheel bearings are loaded through the weight of the ve‐
♦
hicle when the fixing nut for the drive shaft is removed, the
wheel bearing will be initially damaged. This shortens the life
of the wheel bearing.
If the vehicle should be positioned on its wheels or moved, pay
♦
attention to the following points: Install an outer joint instead
of the drive shaft. Tighten fixing screw of outer joint to tight‐
ening torque 25 Nm.
Remove nut:
– Remove wheel trim cap, for light-alloy wheels remove the cap
on the removed wheel (depending on version) ⇒ Wheels,
Tyres; Rep. gr. 44 .
