Removing and installing drive shaft with
CV joint remote VL107
Special tools and workshop equipment required
♦ Wedge - T10161-
♦ Used oil collector and extractor - VAS 6622-
♦ Extractor - 3283 A oder MP6-425 (3283)-
Caution
If the fixing nut of the drive shaft is loosened by more than 90°
on the wheel side, the wheel bearings must not be loaded, i.e
the vehicle must not stand on its wheels.
If the wheel bearings are loaded through the weight of the ve‐
hicle when the fixing nut for the drive shaft is removed, the inner
wheel bearing will be damaged. This shortens the life of the
wheel bearing.
Vehicles without drive shaft must not be positioned on their
wheels. If the vehicle should be positioned on its wheels or
moved, pay attention to the following points:
♦ Install an outer joint instead of the drive shaft.
♦ Tighten outer joint to 120 Nm.
Removing
– Unscrew 12-point nut of drive shaft

– Raise vehicle.
– Remove front wheel.
– Remove the sound dampening system ⇒ General body re‐
pairs, exterior ; Rep. gr. 66 ; Noise insulation .
– Unscrew the nuts -arrows-.
– Unhook steering joint out of the steering joint.
