Lower assembly carrier

Special tools and workshop equipment required
♦ Engine/gearbox jack with adapter , e.g. -V.A.G 1383/A- with -
V.A.G 1359/2-
♦ Wooden insert 490 x 270 x 50 mm for adapter - V.A.G 1359/2-
♦ Fixing device - T10096-
♦ Fixing device - T10486 A-
Release the assembly carrier - remove:
Caution
Bring the steering wheel in its central position (with the wheels
straight ahead) and make sure that it does not turn during re‐
pairs as this could damage the coil spring of the airbag unit.
– Secure the steering wheel with the wheels in straight ahead
position with adhesive tape -arrow- against unintended turn‐
ing.
Left-hand drive
– Unscrew the plastic nuts -arrow-.
– Partially remove the floor covering.
Right-hand drive
– Unscrew the plastic nuts -arrows-.
– Remove foot rest -1- and cover for universal joint of the steer‐
ing column -2-.
