Using IC Memory Cards
This section explains how to use optional IC memory cards with the unit. For more
information, see the documentation that comes with the card.
When using IC memory cards, insert the cards before powering on the unit. You can
use up to two cards at a time.
Notes on usage:

* Be sure to use only cards that have the [Ps] mark on it.
« Be sure to turn off the power to the unit when inserting and removing cards.
* To protect the unit's memory, do not insert or remove the battery magazine or
external power source, such as the car battery cord, during operation.
¢ Store the card in its plastic case when you are not using it.
¢ Do not bend or drop cards.
« Do not expose cards to static electricity, heat, direct sunlight, moisture, or
-~nechanical shock.
* Do not touch the card terminals with your finger. Do not place the card terminals
close to metal. If the terminals are dirty, clean them with the cleaning tissue
(supplied).
¢ if you have not used a card for a prolonged period of time, the card terminals may
be dirty with rust or dust. Be sure to clean the terminals before use.
¢ Make a backup copy for your important data.
¢ When a map card or point database card is used, the Geodetic System is
automatically changed to the setting the card employs.
« When two cards are inserted, Card 1 has priority over Card 2.
Note on the IC memory card slots:
The slots are designed to be slightly stiff to protect the card and to prevent intrusion
of dust and water.
