Onthe DOLBY SURROUND menu(Fig. 5 ),
choices includeDolbyDigital, D olbyPm LogicII,Dolby

DolbyVirtual Speaker Reference o r Wide. F ora
complete description o fthe different D olby Surround
modes, s eepage34. TheDolbyDigital E XandDolby
ProLogicIix modesareonlyavailable w henthe
system is setfor 6.1/7.1 operation byconfiguring
the Surround B ackspeakers t o "Small" o r "Large", as
described o n page28, or viaEzSeVEQ. Whena disc
is playing witha DolbyDigital s oundtrack t hatcontains
a special " flag"signalinthedatastream, t he Dolby
Digital E Xmodewill beselected automatically. It may
alsobe selected usingthismenuor through thefront
panel o r remote controls, asshownon page33. A

• Center W idth: T hissetting adjusts the balance of the
vocalintormation i nthe frontsoundstage b etween
the center a ndfrontleft/right s peakers. Thelower
settings spread the centerchannel soundmore
broadly intothe leftandrightchannels. A higher
number(upto "7") produces a tightercenter
channel p resentatioin.
• Dimension: Thissetting airesthe pemeived d epth
of the surround fieldbycreating a shallower presen-
tationthatappears to movesounds towardthefront
of the room,or a deeper p resentation t hatappears
to movethe centerof thesoundfieldtowaidthe
backof the room. T heselting of "0" is a neutral
detault, w iththe rangeof adjustment shown as
"R%'fora deepe_, reanoriented s ound to "F %'
fora shalloweT, frontoriented sound.
• Panorama: Switchthisselting on or offto addan
enveloping w raparound p resentation thatincreases
the perception o f sound alongthe sides of the room.
