4. CONNECTION AND START-UP

4.1 Connecti on
CAUTION
The storage tank connecti ons may not be made of
materials more precious than carbon steel due to the
increased electrochemical corrosion. This applies to
connector pipes (fi tti ngs) contacti ng the tank connec-
tor pipe thread. Preferably, use galvanized pipe con-
nectors (fi tti ngs.)
Aft er the installati on and levelling the tank, follow the procedure
below (for the connector pipe numbers, refer to Fig. 3 and Fig. 5):
1. Remove protecti ng plugs from the connector pipes
2. Connect the hot water intake line (12).
3. Connect the cold water supply line together with the
required safety valves (19).
4. If the system has the hot water circulati on system, connect
it to the connector pipe (14). Otherwise, plug the pipe.
5. Connect the supply (13) and return (16) of the heati ng
medium to the coil.

4.2 Start-Up

Fill the storage tank with water and vent it aft er making cor-
rect connecti ons.
CAUTION
If there is an electric heati ng module installed in the
storage tank, fi ll the tank with water before connecti ng
it to the electrical installati on.
Filling and venti ng the hot water storage tank:
1.
Open the cold water cut-off valve at the inlet and the hot
water intake point.
2.
Fill the storage tank unti l obtaining uniform water outf low
at the hot water intake point. Close the intake points.
3.
Fill the coil with the heati ng medium, and vent it.
4.
Check ti ghtness of the enti re system.
5. Check the ti ghtness of the heati ng module connecti on pipe.
When properly fi lled and vented, the storage tank is ready to use.
CAUTION
The plug on the connecti on pipe of the heati ng module
is an exploitati on element, therefore it is necessary to
check its ti ghtness before using the tank.

Informati on
We recommend connecti ng the tank connector pipes
with the system lines by means of unions to allow discon-
necti on of the tank, if required.
CAUTION
Open the hot water intake valves before heati ng the
system up for the fi rst ti me or aft er a longer break in its
operati on in order to check whether the storage tank is
fi lled with water and the cut-off valve at the cold water
inlet is not closed.
4.3 Thermal Insulati on of the System
In order to minimize thermal energy losses, insulate all con-
nector pipes, pipelines and temperature sensor covers tho-
roughly aft er the installati on of the unit and performance of
the leak proof test. For this purpose, use thermal insulati on
of correctly selected thickness and thermal insulati on para-
meters.
Informati on
Lack of thermal insulati on, its incorrect thickness or in-
sulati on made of inadequate materials will cause decre-
ase of thermal insulati on properti es of the unit and the
system.
4.4 Warnings and Practi cal Recommendati ons
CAUTION
To prevent bacterial growth we recommend to make
sure a periodically increase of hot water temperature for
a shorter ti me at regular intervals e.g. every 14
We recommend the following:
Check the operati on of the safety valve as described by
the manufacturer of the valve in order to check whether
it is not clogged.
Clean the inside of the storage tank periodically. Cleaning
intervals depends on the hardness of the water present
in a given area.
To ensure opti mum protecti on of the storage tank against
corrosion, we recommended checking the level of wear
of the isolated magnesium anode once a year.
