6. Inappropriate use

DANGER: Improper handling of lever hoists
poses a threat to life for persons and a risk
of damage to equipment. In particularly the
person standing below or next to the load is
endangered. Beware of swinging loads.
• The working load limit (WLL) must not be exceeded.
• Using the hoist to transport people is forbidden (Fig. 2).
• It is not permitted to extend the lever (Fig. 3).
• Welding on the hook or load chain is forbidden.
The load chain must not be used as an earthing
connection when welding (Fig. 4).
• Parallel shear pull, i.e. lateral loading of the housing
or the lower block, is forbidden (Fig. 5).
• The load chain must not be used as chain ing (Fig. 6),
nor may it be pulled across sharp edges.
• Do not put knots into the load chain, and do not join it
with bolts, screws, screwdrivers or anything similar.
Load chains that are permanently fitted into lifting
gear must not be repaired (Fig. 7). The chains must
not be twisted or extended.
• The load chain must not come into contact with pure
hydrogen, aggressive chemicals or with aggressive
cleaning agents. First ask the manufacturer about
such materials.
• It is not permitted to remove the safety shackle from
the load or supporting hooks (Fig. 8).
• Do not load the hook tips (Fig. 9).
• The chain's end­piece must not be used as a lift
limiter for operational purposes.
• Do not allow the hoist to drop. The equipment should
always be properly laid on the floor.
• Use in areas subject to explosive hazard (EX) is
forbidden!
• Additional (supportive) lifting of a load that is already
raised, e.g. by a crane, is prohibited.
• Loads in the raised state must always be supervised
• It is not permitted to carry out work below the raised
load.
• Chains and hooks must not be brought into position
by hammering
• Hook tips may not be inserted into a chain link.
• Loads may not be lifted away over persons (fig.1).
• No welding or cutting work may be carried out on
a raised load.
