It is essential to make sure that the pump is installed at a safe distance from electrical connections, as the
stream of water from the vent may otherwise cause an electric shock/short-circuit! Danger to life!
Extraction height
The pumps C237 W3 and C237 WF3 are equipped with adjustable support feet.
1 mm residual water extraction height without support feet (as supplied)
2 mm residual water extraction height with support feet. In this case, push the 3 support feet into their
recesses on the underside of the pump until they click fast. The feet point inwards.
3 mm residual water extraction height. In this case, push the 3 support feet into their recesses on the
underside of the pump until they click fast. The feet point outwards.
The extraction heights below 3mm are exceptional extraction heights and, due to the reduced cross-
section, they limit the inflow on the suction side. This effect reduces the output of the pump. The pump only
achieves its full output with an extraction height of 3mm.
Installation of a non-return flap
The pumps are used as emergency pumps in most applications and are therefore only very rarely brought into
operation. Therefore, the pump is not equipped with a non-return flap by default. The reason for this is the
possible functional impairment of the pump under certain conditions. If a very long time (months or years) has
passed since its last operation, dirt may have accumulated on the non-return flap water column (of which the most
recently extracted surface water may have contained significant amounts) and from there may have been
deposited on the non-return flap where it prevents the valve from opening. This is especially applicable since the
pump must be completely ventilated after a longer standstill time during each initial startup.
The disadvantage of installation without a non-return flap is that the water running back out of the line and the
remaining residual water must be removed (wiped up or removed with a wet vacuum). Thus, in most cases, the
possible failure of the pump in an emergency is preferred. A non-return flap should therefore only be installed in
pumps with applications involving frequent operation (at least 1 x per week).

5.3. Start-Up

This chapter contains all important instructions for operating personnel for safe commissioning and operation of
the machinery. The following must be complied with and checked:
Type of installation
Operation mode
Minimal submersion in water / maximum submersion depth
After a longer downtime these points must also be checked and detected defaults must be repaired!
The operation and maintenance manual must always be kept with the machinery, or in a dedicated place
where it is accessible for the entire operating personnel.
The following points must be taken into account to avoid personal and material damage when
troubleshooting machinery failures:
The commissioning of the machinery must only be carried out by qualified and trained personnel in
compliance with the safety regulations.
All personnel that is working on the machinery must have received, read and understood the
operating instructions.
Activate all safety equipment and emergency switch-offs before commissioning.
Electrotechnical and mechanical settings must only be carried out by specialists.
This machinery is only suitable for the use under the indicated operating conditions.

5.4. Preparatory work

The machinery was constructed and fitted according to the latest technology, so that it works for a long time and
reliably under normal operating conditions. This requires however that you comply with all requirements and
informations. Small oil leakages of the floating ring seals on delivery are not problematic, but they must be
removed before lowering/immersion into the medium.
Please check the following points:
Cable run - no loops, slightly tightened
Check temperature of the medium and submersion depth - see machinery data sheet
If a tube is used for pressure, this must be rinsed with clear water so that no deposits lead to
obstruction.
The pump pit must be cleaned for wet installation
The pressure-sided and suction-sided pipework system must be cleaned and all gate valves must
be opened
