8-11. Engine/Generator Overload Protection

When a supplementary protector, cir-
cuit breaker or fuse opens, it usually in-
dicates a more serious problem exists.

Supplementary Protector CB9
CB9 protects the 24 volt AC output to re-
mote receptacle. If CB9 opens, weld output
and 24 volt output to remote receptacle
stops.

Fuse F1

Fuse F2
F1 and F2 protect the stator exciter winding
from overload. If F1 opens, weld and gen-
erator power is low or stops entirely. If F2
opens, weld output is low or stops entirely.
4 kVA/kW generator power is still available.

CB3 protects the weld control circuit. If
CB3 opens, weld output stops, meters will
be blank; however, generator power is still
available.
CB4 protects the field flashing circuit. If
CB4 opens, the generator may not excite at
start-up and weld and generator power out-
put may not be available.

Supplementary Protector CB2
CB2 protects the engine control circuit. If
CB2 opens, the engine does not crank.

Supplementary Protector CB11
CB11 protects the 12 volts DC supply to the
engine ECU. If CB11 opens, the engine will
stop. Since the ECU generates error mes-
sages, no error message may appear on
the Engine Display.

Circuit Breaker CB10 (Not Shown)
CB10 protects the engine battery circuit. If
CB10 opens, the engine will not crank.

CB10 automatically resets when the fault is
corrected.

Circuit Breaker CB13 (Not Shown)
CB13 protects the glow plug circuit. If
CB13 opens, the glow plug will not operate.
CB13 automatically resets when the fault is
corrected.
10 Circuit Breaker CB14
CB14 protects the engine ECU. If CB14
opens, the engine will not run.
11 Circuit Breaker CB15
CB15 protects the engine ECU. If CB15
opens, the engine will not start.
12 Circuit Breaker CB16
13 Circuit Breaker CB17
CB16 and CB17 each protect two engine
crankcase breather heaters. If CB16 or
CB17 opens, two of the crankcase
breather heaters will not function.
