2.7.6. Thermal Protective Device
BLM motors use a positive-temperature coefficient (PTC) thermistor as a thermal protection device.
The nominal resistance of the thermistor is 100 ohms at 25 °C. The resistance of the thermistor will
increase rapidly to 1,000 ohms as the motor temperature increases to the 100 °C transition
temperature of the thermistor. The transition temperature is 90 °C for the BLMX motor.
WARNING: The thermal protective device used in the motor must be connected to an
external shutdown circuit to provide protection to the motor.
