Measure PTO idler spring length
at outer ends of spring. Adjust to
11.75 – 12" (29.8 – 30.5 cm) in
3.75 (90)/2.75 (70) deck height
of cut.

Mower Drive Belt Replacement
(Figure 26)
1. Remove PTO mower belt from jackshaft.
2. Relieve spring tension and remove
spring from bracket.
3. Remove mower drive belt.
4. Install new mower drive belt.
5. Verify that there are no twists in belts
and that they are routed correctly.
6. Reinstall spring to bracket.
7. Adjust spring to length of 12 – 12.5"
(30.5 – 31.8 cm).
8. Reinstall PTO belt (see PTO Mower Belt
Replacement on page 32).
Transmission Belt Replacement
(Figure 27)
1. Pull back tension bracket and remove
transmission belt.
2. Install new transmission belt.
3. Verify that there are no twists in belts
and that they are routed correctly.

Removing Mower Deck

1. Remove PTO belt from clutch (see PTO
Mower Belt Replacement on page 32).
2. Release tension from deck lift-assist
spring and disconnect spring.
