Special recording function

Special recording such as pre-recording or relay recording is possible by setting the menu.

Pre-recording

Records the video and audio from specific time before the operation to start the recording.
The pre-recording time varies depending on the setting of the [SYSTEM SETTINGS] menu → [SYSTEM MODE] → [MAIN PIXEL]/[MAIN CODEC].
f When [MAIN PIXEL] is set to [1280x720], [1920x1080], or [2048x1080]: Approximately ten seconds.
f When [MAIN CODEC] is set to [422ALL-I 400M]: Approximately three seconds.
f Other than above: Approximately five seconds.

Select the [REC SETTINGS] menu → [PRE REC] → [ON].
[P] is displayed in the pre-recording status display of the VIEW and HOME screens.

Press the REC button.

NOTE
t The video and audio may not be able to record for specific time before in following cases.
‑ Immediately after the power is set to < > (ON)
‑ Right after opening the menu
‑ Immediately after the SD card is inserted
‑ Right after playing back the recorded video
‑ Immediately after closing the thumbnail screen
‑ Until the writing to the SD card is completed after stopping the recording
‑ Immediately after slave locking to an external time code
‑ Immediately after switching the card slot to record by pressing the USER button with [SLOT SEL] assigned
t When [PRE REC] is set to [ON], the [REC SETTINGS] menu → [TC] → [FREE/REC RUN] is fixed to [FREE RUN].
t The pre-recording is cancelled once when three hours has past without starting the recording.
t For recording limitation of the pre-recording, refer to "Recording function that cannot be used simultaneously".
t Pre-recording cannot be performed if the remaining capacity of the SD card is less than one minute.

Relay recording

Two SD cards can be inserted into the two card slots, and recording can continue on the second SD card when the remaining recordable capacity of the
other SD card is exhausted.

Select the [REC SETTINGS] menu → [2 SLOTS FUNC.] → [RELAY REC].
[RELAY] is displayed in the special recording function display of the HOME screen.
A slanted line is displayed on the [RELAY] display when the relay recording is not possible, such as the SD card is not inserted in either of the two
card slots.

Press the REC button.
The recording status of the recording target card slot in the VIEW screen is displayed black and white inverted.
f When remaining recordable capacity of one of the SD card is exhausted and the relay recording is started, the recording target will switch to the
other SD card. The recording status of the card slot that became the recording target is displayed black and white inverted. It can record to three or
more SD card. Replace the SD card with no more remaining recordable capacity after the recording target has switched.
f To change the recording target card slot before starting the recording, press the <SLOT SEL> button. This will not operate during recording.

NOTE
t It may take some time to recognize the SD card when the SD card is inserted. When recording to three or more SD cards by replacing them while
recording, replace them while there are sufficient remaining recordable capacity on the SD card that is recording.
t Switching of the recording target cannot be performed when the remaining recordable capacity of the relaying SD card is less than one minute.
t The maximum continuous recording time for relay recording is ten hours.
