Add a RAM Module
Follow the steps below to install, check, or remove a RAM module.
To install a RAM module:
1 Shut down your Synology NAS. Disconnect all cables from your Synology NAS to prevent any possible
damage.
2 Remove the 2 screws on the right side of the back panel, and then pull the side cover in the direction as
illustrated below. Place the screws and the cover aside.
When you remove the side cover, you expose sensitive internal components. Avoid touching anything

other than the memory assembly when you insert or remove a RAM module.
3 Insert a new RAM module into the memory slot:
a Align the notch on the gold edge of the module with the memory slot key (i.e. the notch in the memory slot).
b Firmly push the module into the slot at a 45 degree angle. The RAM module is properly inserted when you
hear the retaining clips snap into place.
