    Opening DEPTH should be 200mm or greater for a clay/cement lined flue which is new, unused, or previously used only with a gas appli- ance. DEPTH should be 240mm or greater for a flue used for solid fuel of oil burning appliances.     Turn on and test the gas supply up to the fire for any leaks, in accordance with current edition of BS6891. When the appliance is first used, protective oils coating the firebox may burn off. It is advisable to ventilate the room during this period for at least one hour. © 2012 Focal Point Fires plc.

    Any spare parts fitted MUST be of a type supplied for the purpose by the appliance manufacturer. If the fire is not spilling, then further guidance should be sought, using the Troubleshooting section as a guide. © 2012 Focal Point Fires plc.
