Verifying the settings
Measure operating characteristics during constant current conditions. Keep the measured current as
close as possible to its rated value or lower. But make sure it is higher than the set minimum operating
current.
Ensure that the maximum continuous current to the IED does not exceed four times its rated value, if the
measurement of the operating characteristics runs under constant voltage conditions.
To verify the settings for the operating points according to the following fault types should be tested:
One phase-to-phase fault
One phase-to-ground fault
The shape of the operating characteristic depends on the values of the setting parameters.

Parallel line mutual coupling compensation feature based on the parallel line residual current
is added with new settings: EnaPar, INPRatio, R0MZ1, X0MZ1, R0MZ2, and X0MZ2.
Load compensation and direction element are improved for earth faults without zero
sequence current condition.
This update is valid for all the previously released 2.2 products.

Features for some alternative earthing types (Petersén coil/Isolated and Neutral resistance),
enabled by connecting to the PPL2PHIZ function.
The load compensation of the measuring zones may now be enabled and disabled by a
setting.
New continuous phase selection based on the voltage symmetrical components replaced the
existing one.
The figures illustrating the characteristic for the distance protection function can be used
when the load encroachment affects the zone characteristic and when it is not. The solid lines
designate the diagram applicable when the load encroachment is overlapping with the zone.
All the test points except 13 are valid for this case. When the load encroachment does not
overlap with the zone, the dotted lines and test point 13 are valid. Test points 5, 6, and 7 are
not valid for this measurement however.
