4000 Series GSM Audio Intercom with Proximity
RS485 Network Connection
ART. 4903 NETWORK CONNECTION USING RS485
As mentioned previously (refer to Fig.13, page 19) the Art.4903 keypad can be connected via the RS485 bus terminals on the 4G
GSM module allowing additional features of the GSM module to become available, which include:
• The capacity to store up to 400 permanent access codes (000 - 399).
• Assign any of the 400 access codes to an access level (0 - 9).
• The capacity to store up to 32 temporary access codes.
• Allocate any of the 32 temporary codes to a specific time period (between 1 - 255 hours) after which time the code will be
deleted (the time period which the access code is vaild for will only start counting down from when the code is first used).
• Assign any of the access codes, whether permanent or temporary, to trigger either of or both of the relays (RLY1 and/or
RLY2).
The RS485 bus connection allows the Art.4903 keypad to be connected to the 4G GSM intercom and also allows it to be networked
with other Art.4903 keypads up to a total of 8 devices with each device setup with a unit ID (1 - 8).
ART. 4850R NETWORK CONNECTION USING RS485
The Art.4850R expansion reader can also be connected to the 4G GSM intercom via the RS485 terminals (up to a total of 8 devices,
7 readers with the GSM's onboard reader as device ID.1) and each setup with a unit ID (1 - 8). Please note that the proximity readers
operate as expansion readers only so the maximum capacity of proximity fobs/cards stored on the 4G GSM intercom is still only
1000 (000 - 999) fobs/cards.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Both the Art.4903 keypad and the Art.4850R proximity reader can be networked together with the 4G GSM
provided that the overall number of devices on the RS485 bus does not exceed a total of 8 devices. All devices on the RS485 bus
must have a unique unit ID setup including the GSM intercom.
Programming of the additional features for both the keypad and expansion reader can also be carried out by sending SMS text
messages to the GSM intercom (see notes on programming the GSM intercom on pages 37 - 66) and using the GSM mobile apps
(see notes on the GSM mobile apps on page 67).
ART. 2813 NETWORK CONNECTION USING RS485
Like both the Art.4903 keypad and the Art.4850R reader the
Art.2813 remote relay, Fig.36, can also be connected to the 4G
GSM module via the RS485 bus terminals.
It has a single onboard relay with NO, NC and CO connections
with a switched 0V PTE input to activate the relay and also
includes two switched 0V auxiliary outputs A1 and A2.
The onboard relay and both auxiliary outputs operating times
can be programmed from 1 - 63 seconds or 0 for latch mode.
Up to 64 device ID's (from ID.00 to ID.63) can be set and where
relay operating times and auxiliary output times (for A1 and A2)
can be set.
Programming the remote relay is carried out directly using
its internal 8 way dip switch, further instructions on how to
configure and setup the remote relay can be found in the
installation instructions: 2813_66251545_V1-0 (or later).
The relay and auxiliary outputs can be activated remotely by sending SMS text messages to the GSM intercom (see notes on
programming the GSM intercom on pages 37 - 66) and using the GSM mobile apps (see notes on the GSM mobile apps on page 67).
SECURED BY DESIGN CONFIGURATION
If the remote relay is setup with the same device ID as the GSM module, i.e. ID.1 or setup with the same device ID as an Art.4903
keypad or an Art.4850R proximity reader, it will then mirror their respective outputs (for the GSM's it will mirror the relay and auxiliary
outputs and for the keypad and proximity reader it will mirror the relay outputs) allowing for a Secured by Design configuration,
Fig.37.
NETWORK ACCESS CONTROL CONFIGURATION
All devices described above can be included on an RS485 bus with the 4G GSM module to create an access control network which
can be controlled via the 4G GSM module, see Fig.38, and in the case of the Art.4903 keypad and Art.4850R proximity reader
they can be programmed as well as being triggered whereas the Art.2813 remote relay can only be remotely activated (since
programming the remote relay is carried out directly on the device itself, refer to Art.2813 notes above).
