12. When the >>> console prompt appears, you can safely
turn off the power to your system.
To add or remove display boards
1. Insert or remove the boards. If you are installing an
Md4/PCX board, follow the instructions in "Installing
the Board and Driver in a Digital UNIX Workstation"
on page 117.
2. Turn on power to the workstation again.
3. Boot the system by typing:
>>>boot
4. If you experience problems booting with the new
kernel, see "Resolving booting problems with the new
kernel" on page 115 and "Uninstalling the kit" on
page 116.
Resolving booting problems with the new kernel
The kit installation rebuilds your kernel, but it saves your
existing kernel as

If your new kernel fails to boot properly after the driver
installation, follow these steps:
To resolve booting problems
1. Boot the saved kernel at the boot (SRM) prompt
(replacing
>>>boot -fl s -fi /vmunix.pre.KITNAME
This command boots single-user mode, using the
previous kernel.
