- Page 2 OVERVIEW Turn the function switch to any position to power ON. Turn the function switch to the OFF position to power down. The meter is powered by four (4) 1.5V ‘AAA’ batteries (rear compartment); replace when meter does not power ON. Meter switches OFF after 10 minutes of inactivity (APO). Disable APO by holding the MODE button while powering up. For the diagram at right, see the descriptions below: 1. Jaw opening trigger 2. Hz‐MODE button 3. - Page 3 FUNCTION BUTTONS Select AC or DC in the Voltage/Current modes. Select Diode or Capacitance; Continuity or Resistance. Select Hz in the AC Voltage/Current/FLEX modes. Select Auto or Manual range mode. In Manual mode, press to change the range (scale); to return to Auto range mode, press and hold for > 2 seconds. Toggle normal and Hold modes. Press for > 2 seconds to enable/disable MIN/MAX mode. While in MIN/MAX mode, short presses step MIN>MAX>MIN. Press and hold for >2 seconds to exit the MIN/MAX mode. For the CM74: Press to enable/disable the display backlight. Press > 2 seconds to switch the Work Light ON/OFF. For the CM72 press to enable/disable the LCD backlight. For the CM72 press to enable/disable the Work Light. CM74 only. In the DCA mode, press to zero the display. In the ACA mode press to enable the inrush current mode. DISPLAY ICONS Meter is displaying maximum reading values. Ampere. Unit of measure for current. Meter is displaying minimum reading values. Volt. Unit of measure for Voltage.
