2-4. Using other driving systems
Rear differential lock system
Use the rear differential lock system only when wheel spinning
occurs in a ditch or on a slippery or ragged surface. This system is
effective in case one of the rear wheels is spinning.

Operating tips
First turn the four-wheel drive control switch to "L4" with the center differen-
tial locked to see if you can move forward. If this does not work, use the rear
differential lock system also.
Be sure to stop the wheels before locking the differential.
Unlock the differential as soon as the vehicle moves out.
∗
Lock
Push and turn the switch clock-
wise until it clicks. The rear dif-
ferential lock indicator light will
flash. Wait a few seconds for
the system to complete opera-
tion. After the differential is
locked, the light will come on.
Unlock
Turn the switch fully counter-
clockwise. When the differen-
tial lock is disengaged, the
indicator light will turn off.
