Under MS-DOS
disk drives can be connected to the SCSI bus without
additional software (older versions of DOS support up to
two hard disk drives). Additional software is required if
you desire to do the following:
• Support more than two fixed disk drives under ver-
sions of MS-DOS prior to version 5.0.
• Support up to eight fixed disk drives under MS-DOS
5.0 or higher.
• Use devices other than hard disk drives such as SCSI
tape drives, CD-ROM, scanners, plotters, etc.
• Treat removable media devices as removable while
your computer is running.
