Guying the Dipole
The dipole must be guyed to stabilize the antenna and protect it from weather and wind.
The diagram below shows a suggested method of guying. The ropes are shown as red for clarity. Long tent
pegs, metal rods or DXE-EA15-4P (https://www.dxengineering.com/parts/dxe-ea15-4p) rope guying anchors
can be used, depending on the soil conditions at your location.
Weatherproof the Coax Connector
The PL-259 connector should be properly weatherproofed after installing the coax cable to the Balun. Use of
the DX Engineering Coaxial Connection Weatherproofing Kit DXE-WPCC88-1 is recommended
(https://www.dxengineering.com/parts/dxe-wpcc88-1). If, at a later date, you decided to replace the coax
cable, removal of the weatherproofing is easy and leave no mess on the PL-259 connector or Balun SO-239
connection. Refer to this for the proper way to weatherize coax connectors:
