B. Resetting Immobilizer Security Information (If so
equipped)
Reset immobilizer security information in the old ECM.
Refer to Resetting and Programming Guidelines in the
immobilizer section. If the old ECM cannot be
communicated with a scan tool, go to the next
procedure.
C. Removal and Installation
Removal Procedure (NHR, NMR, NLR)
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Disconnect the ECM harness connectors.
3. Loosen the bolts (2).
4. Remove the ECM with bracket (3) from the frame.
5. Loosen the bolts(4) and remove the ECM (1).

Removal Procedure (NNR, NPR)
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Disconnect the ECM harness connectors.
3. Remove the dropping resistor (2).
4. Loosen the nuts (3).
5. Remove the ECM with bracket (5) from the engine
side cover.
6. Loosen the bolts (4) and remove the ECM (1).

Installation Procedure (NHR, NMR, NLR)
1. Install the ECM (1) to the bracket (3) and tighten
the bolts (4).
2. Install the ECM with bracket (3) to the frame and
tighten bolts (2).
3. Reconnect the ECM harness connectors.
4. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
Installation Procedure (NNR, NPR)
1. Install the ECM (1) to the bracket (5) and tighten
the ECM fixing bolts (4).
2. Install the ECM with bracket (5) to the engine side
cover and tighten the nuts (3).
3. Install the dropping resistor (2).
4. Reconnect the ECM harness connector.
5. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
D. Programming Immobilizer Security Information
(If so equipped)
Program immobilizer security information into the ECM.
Refer to Resetting and Programming Guidelines in the
immobilizer section.
E. Programming Software and Calibrations
Program latest software/ calibrations if released. Refer
to Service Programming System (SPS) Description and
SPS (Remote Procedure)
Procedure) in this section.
F. Programming Fuel Injector ID Codes and VIN
Euro 4 specification
1. Install a scan tool.
2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
3. Select Diagnostics
identification > appropriate engine model >
Programming > Program ECU.
