6. MAINTENANCE

6.1 Maintenance
Regular maintenance helps to keep your equipment in good condition and prevents future problems. Check the
items shown in the table below.

Check for physical damage and corrosion.
Check grounding and cable connections.
Remove dust from the transceiver unit

Note: Do not use chemical cleaners to clean
the transceiver unit; they can remove paint or
markings and deform the equipment.
Check that the supply voltage at transmission is

within the rated range (21.6 to 31.2 VDC at the
input of Power Supply Unit.

6.2 Simple Troubleshooting

The table below provides possible problems and the means with which to restore normal operation. If normal
operation cannot be restored, do not attempt to check inside the equipment. Any servicing should be referred to a
qualified technician.
Problem
Power cannot be turned on.
Dark display.
Power is on but no sound
from the main speaker.

6.3 Error Messages

The table below shows error messages, their meanings, and remedies. Please refer to section 2.11.2. If other error
occurs, contact your dealer.

Probable cause
Mains switchboard is off.
(DC) voltage is too high.
Display brightness is too low.
Main speaker is off.
Meaning
Receipt of distress call.
Not transmitting.
HW error. Check equipment.
Built in self test failure.
Position data is not updated for
15 minutes.
VSWR exceeds limit.
MMSI is not set.
Internal interface failure.

Replace damaged parts.
Tighten loosened connections.
Wipe the LCD carefully to prevent
scratching, using tissue paper and an
LCD cleaner. To remove dirt or salt
deposits, use an LCD cleaner, wiping
slowly with tissue paper so as to
dissolve the dirt or salt. Change paper
frequently so the salt or dirt does not
scratch the LCD.
If not within the range, check power
source. Low or over voltage may cause
operation abnormal.
Turn on the mains switchboard.
Check supply voltage.
Press the DIM button to adjust the
display brightness.
Press the VOLUME knob to turn on the
main speaker.
Check DSC Task.
Check equipment status.
Check Version menu, contact the manufacturer.
Check failure information, contact manufacturer.
Check external GNSS data input or manual enter
the position.
Check Antenna.
Enter MMSI of own ship.
Check equipment, contact the manufacturer.
